Living in Houston without Lights during Hurricane Beryl

It's been eight days since the thunderstorm plunged our home into darkness. The familiar hum of electricity has been replaced by an eerie silence, and the comforting glow of light replaced by shadows that dance and flicker in the candlelight. As we navigate these trying times, we are reminded that even in the darkness, there is hope, love, and the strength to endure.
My exhaustion is palpable, but I am not alone. My oldest daughter has been a beacon of support, comforting me through the frustration and tears. Our family has been separated, with my brother graciously taking in my other three children. We are forever grateful for his kindness, as it allows us to focus on caring for our beloved cats, who rely on us now more than ever.
We have found solace in the generosity of local businesses, offering us the luxury of a hot shower and the lifeline of charged electronics. Yet, despite these small comforts, the heat of the night still finds us, our windows offering little respite from the stifling air. A friend's battery-operated fan has been our saving grace, a gentle reminder of the love and support that surrounds us.
Asking for help has never been easy, but I have learned that it is a sign of strength, not weakness. Our friends have opened their homes to us, providing a much-needed escape from the darkness that envelops our own. In these moments, we are humbled by the love and compassion that surround us, a reminder that we are never truly alone.
Trusting in God's plan, we hold onto the belief that there is a reason for this trial, a lesson to be learned, and growth to be achieved. In the meantime, we are asking for your support in the form of donations for gas and food. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference in our lives. You can send your love through PayPal: paypal.me/mysticravenjade, Cash App: $MRavenJade, or Venmo @tiajds42.
As we await the return of electricity, we hold onto the hope that the lights will soon illuminate our home once more. Until then, we find comfort in the love and kindness of those around us, a testament to the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity.
